MIGreatArtist™: Visual Art Competition
An Initiative of Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson
is one of Oakland County's premier quality of life events. County Executive L. Brooks Patterson began the competition to promote the Oakland County and encourage creativity in the residents who live, work or attend school in the Economic Growth Alliance region. MIGreatArtist™
is an online art competition for visual artists,18 years+, creating 2-D artworks. Entrants will be able to upload up to 5 images and descriptions of their work for public voting. From the top 20 artists, a 5-member jury of arts professionals will select 5 finalists. The winner will be determined by a combination of jury score and public vote.
Who Can Participate
The contest is open to all artists, 18 years and older, who live, work or attend school in one of the six (6) Economic Growth Alliance counties: Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, or St. Clair.
Type of Art You May Enter
MIGreatArtist™ is open to all original art work submitted by the original creator that is 2-D, including: oil, acrylic, watercolor, ink, pastel, collage, etc… Photography and digital artworks are excluded from the competition.
How to Enter
Complete the entry form
and submit 5 digital samples of artworks that meets the type requirements.
Voting & Judging
Your entry will be displayed in the gallery section of this site for 3 weeks. Individuals may vote once a day from July 25 through August 17, 2012 for their favorites. Twenty semi-finalists will be selected from the top public votes. A 5-member jury of arts professionals will select 5 finalists. The MIGreatArtist™ winner will be determined by a combination of jury score and public vote.

Even with great media coverage and social media efforts by our sponsors, promoting your participation in MIGreatArtist™ may increase your chances of making it into the top 20 semi-finalists.
